The Mathematics/Applied Science program caters to students who have a strong passion for mathematics and its practical applications in specific disciplines. This flexible major allows students to create personalized study plans in collaboration with a faculty advisor. Alternatively, they can choose from predefined tracks like the mathematics/history of science option or the medical and life sciences concentration. Previous participants have successfully paired mathematics with diverse fields including atmospheric sciences, biochemistry, economics, physics, psychology, and statistical analysis.
Prospective students looking to develop a custom curriculum should consult with the undergraduate advisor at 6356 Mathematical Sciences by their second year. After drafting a proposed study plan, it must be submitted to the mathematics/applied science curriculum committee for review. Every approved program must incorporate the required preparatory and core coursework.
