The Computer Science Department is committed to achieving excellence by generating, implementing, and sharing knowledge in computer science and engineering. This is accomplished through robust academic programs, collaborative research with industry and government partners, scholarly publications, and active engagement with professional organizations, local communities, and national initiatives.

Students can pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in either Computer Science (CS) or Computer Science and Engineering (CS&E). While both programs provide a solid computer science foundation, the CS&E track specifically caters to students interested in computer hardware systems. Both CS and CS&E programs hold accreditation from ABET's Computing Accreditation Commission, with the CS&E program additionally accredited by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission.

The computer science and engineering program equips students with the skills to develop, test, and deploy both hardware and software components of digital systems. This interdisciplinary curriculum bridges Computer Science and Electrical/Computer Engineering disciplines. Students explore the full spectrum of computer systems - from electronic circuitry to advanced programming concepts, including logic design, microprocessor systems, operating systems, network architecture, and high-level language applications. Graduates emerge prepared for diverse careers across cutting-edge technology sectors.
