The Bachelor of Arts in Nordic Studies equips undergraduates with a broad, interdisciplinary education about the Nordic nations (including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands). This program aims to give Nordic Studies majors thorough cultural and historical knowledge of these countries through global and cross-disciplinary approaches. Notably, the curriculum enables students to examine the Nordic region through non-Humanities lenses if desired, while maintaining essential coursework in the area's history and cultures.
Participants gain exclusive access to studying literature by multiple Nobel laureates, analyzing over 100 years of Scandinavian cinema, and learning about regional history and folklore. Graduates will emerge with strong cultural and historical understanding of the Nordic countries, along with nuanced awareness of the challenging issues and dynamic influences shaping contemporary Nordic societies amid growing global interconnectedness.
