The Bachelor of Arts in Musicology program embraces students with varied musical experiences, enabling them to craft personalized study paths aligned with their aspirations. Through innovative courses spanning historical eras, musical styles, and cultural traditions, students develop skills to examine, interpret, and appreciate diverse musical forms - from ancient to contemporary, classical to popular, Western to worldwide, both as cultural artifacts and through analytical perspectives.
This degree program concludes with an intensive year-long senior project where students design and complete original research on a focused subject, resulting in either a comprehensive written thesis or alternative formats like performance-lectures or multimedia presentations. Each spring, graduating seniors showcase their capstone projects at a public symposium. The curriculum also incorporates a flexible performance component, achievable through multiple pathways without requiring prior formal music education.
