The History Graduate Program at UCI provides students with a vibrant academic environment characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty and students. Key research areas include: Transnational, colonial, and imperial studies; Global History; Science, technology, medicine, and environmental history; Gender and sexuality studies; Religious history. The program encourages cross-disciplinary discussions through specialized seminars that unite students across various historical periods and regions. Our methodology blends in-depth theoretical analysis with meticulous investigation of primary sources, including archival materials, texts, oral histories, and artifacts. Students can earn an M.A. in History, typically through either an oral examination or thesis within a one-year timeframe.
