The History Graduate Program at UCI provides students with a vibrant academic environment characterized by its emphasis on interdisciplinary exchange between faculty and students. This collaboration focuses on key research areas including: Transnational, colonial, and imperial studies; Global History; The history of science, technology, medicine, and environmental studies; Gender and sexuality studies; Religious history. The program encourages cross-disciplinary discussions through graduate seminars that unite students with diverse geographical and historical specializations. This unique educational model blends in-depth theoretical exploration with meticulous analysis of primary sources such as documents, texts, interviews, and artifacts. Students can earn an M.A. in History, typically within one year, through either an oral examination or thesis submission.
