The History Graduate Program at UCI provides students with a vibrant academic environment characterized by its emphasis on interdisciplinary exchange between faculty and students. This collaboration focuses on key research areas including: Transnational, colonial, and imperial studies; Global History; The history of science, technology, medicine, and environmental studies; Gender and sexuality studies; Religious history. Through graduate seminars, students from diverse geographical and historical specialties engage in a unique educational approach that blends theoretical exploration with detailed analysis of primary sources such as documents, texts, interviews, and artifacts. Students can earn an M.A. in History, typically through either an oral examination or thesis within one year.
