The History Graduate Program at UCI provides students with a vibrant academic environment characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration between faculty and students. Key research areas include: Transnational, colonial, and imperial studies; Global History; Science, technology, medicine, and environmental studies; Gender and sexuality studies; and Religious history. The program encourages cross-disciplinary discussions through specialized seminars that unite students across various historical periods and regions. Our unique methodology blends in-depth theoretical exploration with meticulous analysis of primary sources, including documents, texts, interviews, and artifacts. Students can earn an M.A. in History, typically completed in one year through either an oral examination or thesis.
