The Master of Advanced Studies (M.A.S.) in Criminology, Law and Society, UC's inaugural online degree program, equips professionals for leadership roles in criminal justice and legal sectors. The program focuses on both theoretical frameworks and practical implementations related to crime prevention, social policy, and legal systems. Aligning with the School of Social Ecology's interdisciplinary approach, students examine subjects through multiple academic lenses. This degree is particularly designed for professionals pursuing or currently holding positions in criminal justice or legal fields who seek graduate education for career growth. The 52-unit curriculum follows a structured two-year sequence (6 quarters), with an optional week-long introductory residential course available before fall quarter. Instead of a thesis, students complete a capstone course along with two mandatory courses (CRMLAW C214 and CRMLAW C215) and select electives to complete the remaining 40 units. The M.A.S. degree is conferred after successfully finishing all 13 courses (52 units).
