The Sociology Department provides a doctoral program specializing in sociological studies. Key focus areas encompass social networks, gender studies, racial/ethnic dynamics, labor markets, collective action, family structures, migration patterns, demographic studies, political economics, and global systemic changes. Our curriculum delivers systematic instruction in sociological frameworks, statistical analysis, and both qualitative and quantitative research techniques. While maintaining a strong sociological foundation, the program encourages interdisciplinary connections with fields like anthropology, legal studies, political theory, historical analysis, criminal justice, and urban development strategies. Limited cohort sizes enable individualized guidance and foster strong faculty-student mentoring bonds. Our professors employ varied theoretical perspectives and research methodologies while engaging with critical sociological questions and welcoming interdisciplinary insights.
