Participants collaborate closely with Merage School faculty and, when applicable, with professors from other campus departments. A mandatory teaching component, complemented by pedagogy seminars, offers essential classroom experience. Specialization areas align with faculty expertise, covering: Accounting (9), Finance (9), Marketing (12), Information Systems (7), Operations and Decision Technologies (8), Organization and Management (7), and Strategy (7).

The Ph.D. in Management welcomes applicants from diverse academic backgrounds. While a master's degree is advantageous, exceptional candidates may enter directly after completing their bachelor's degree. Suitable undergraduate majors span multiple disciplines, including psychology, political science, business administration, mathematics, computer science, economics, and sociology. Applicants from unconventional fields like natural sciences, humanities, or arts are also encouraged. The program develops scholars for teaching and research positions across management specialties such as organizational behavior, strategic management, operations research, information systems, finance, accounting, and marketing. Ph.D. candidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of management fundamentals, develop advanced research capabilities, and successfully defend an original dissertation.
