Earth System Science is a multidisciplinary area that integrates oceanography, atmospheric studies, weather science, geography, earth sciences, water systems, and environmental studies. ESS learners develop insights into environmental component interactions, including human impacts on these intricate systems.

Key inquiries in Earth System Science encompass topics like how atmospheric composition affects climate and air purity, biological factors shaping ocean chemistry, and physical forces driving atmospheric and oceanic movements.

The Earth System Science (B.S.) curriculum equips students with core knowledge of marine, atmospheric, and land-based sciences. This academic path readies graduates for scientific, research, or technical professions. The program teaches application of fundamental sciences (physics, chemistry, math, and biology) to comprehend Earth's climate systems, biogeochemical cycles, and planetary transformations. A crucial aspect involves interpreting scientific publications, mastering data collection/analysis techniques, and contextualizing findings within theoretical frameworks. Participants will cultivate teamwork skills to tackle complex challenges and effectively convey scientific information.
