Computer Engineering graduates will (1) pursue professional careers at or above entry-level positions or enroll in top-tier graduate programs, leveraging their strong background in engineering, mathematics, sciences, humanities, social sciences, and hands-on experience with contemporary engineering techniques, (2) demonstrate creativity in designing, researching, and developing systems and products while excelling in problem-solving, communication, collaboration, leadership, and entrepreneurial abilities, (3) actively adapt to global changes by applying core knowledge to address practical challenges with consideration for societal, economic, environmental, and ethical factors, using innovative thinking and principled approaches. (These program objectives guide curriculum development, with their attainment being a collaborative effort between students and UCI.)

Qualification Requirements

Student must have completed secondary school with excellent grades/marks in academic subjects and have earned a certificate of completion that enables you to be admitted to a university in your home country and is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. If your secondary/high school was completed in a country where English was not the language of instruction, or if you have less than three years of high school curriculum instruction in English in the U.S., you are required to demonstrate English proficiency.

Various examinations and scores may be used to demonstrate proficiency in English: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination: Internet-based test (IBT): score 80 or higher; Score 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); Freshman applicants may complete one UC approved English composition course.
