The Department highly recommends students explore the Quantitative Economics major, as it provides exceptional preparation for careers in finance and business, legal education, MBA programs, and advanced studies in social sciences. Economics examines how individuals and societies manage limited resources and allocate goods and services. Every scenario involving decisions between competing options represents an economic challenge. Through economics courses, students analyze individual decision-making (microeconomics), governmental policy choices (public choice), and broader societal impacts (macroeconomics). The curriculum also covers global trade, monetary systems, financial institutions, and economic growth in developing countries. Students pursuing any of the three Economics majors have the opportunity to participate in the department's Honors Program.
