This program immerses students in the diverse world of English literature, spanning works from Britain and America to Africa, Asia, and Australasia. The curriculum highlights distinctions across historical eras and literary forms while promoting engagement with various critical approaches.
The English Department offers both undergraduate and graduate studies in English literature, including an M.F.A. in Writing, a Master of English Program, Literary Journalism, and Composition courses. Our faculty includes literary theorists, historians, rhetoric specialists, composition experts, journalists, novelists, and poets.
Department students examine multiple frameworks for literary interpretation. They craft fiction and poetry. They create journalistic pieces. Throughout their studies, our students critically engage with written works: examining their historical development, evolving roles, and contemporary cultural significance. This program equips graduates for a world where skilled writing and textual analysis remain essential.
