The Honors in Drama program acknowledges undergraduate Drama students who pursue a broad educational approach rather than specializing in one discipline. This distinction is ideal for students who may not qualify for Honors in specific concentrations (such as Acting or Design), yet demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and departmental contributions.
The B.A. in Drama complements a comprehensive education encompassing world history, political studies, psychology, creative arts, literature, visual and auditory aesthetics, and evolving communication technologies. Though often viewed as entertainment, Drama draws from timeless literary masterpieces—from Euripides, Shakespeare, and Molière to modern luminaries like Tennessee Williams, August Wilson, and David Henry Hwang—while incorporating performance traditions spanning 3,000 years across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Theatre, the practical application of Drama, fosters collaborative, real-time artistic exchanges and live audience engagement.
