The Art Department within the Claire Trevor School of the Arts embraces a broad, cross-disciplinary perspective on modern artistic creation. Focused on exploration and originality, the department stands at the forefront of artistic movements exploring cultural identity and cutting-edge technologies. Students gain a robust conceptual and practical framework for understanding art as both creative journey and final outcome. The program fosters personalized, dedicated exploration of various artistic mediums, tools, and methods. Accordingly, the coursework offers hands-on studio practice across diverse disciplines including traditional arts, photography, digital media, video production, performance pieces, and innovative technologies. The program regularly incorporates insights from guest artists, scholars, exhibition organizers, and other creative industry experts.
Student must have completed secondary school with excellent grades/marks in academic subjects and have earned a certificate of completion that enables you to be admitted to a university in your home country and is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. If your secondary/high school was completed in a country where English was not the language of instruction, or if you have less than three years of high school curriculum instruction in English in the U.S., you are required to demonstrate English proficiency.
Various examinations and scores may be used to demonstrate proficiency in English: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination: Internet-based test (IBT): score 80 or higher; Score 6.5 or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); Freshman applicants may complete one UC approved English composition course.
