The Public Interest Law concentration prepares students for careers in public service and the nonprofit sector, while exploring how legal professionals can advocate for marginalized populations and communities.
Our Law School features a Public Service Law Certificate Program designed for students dedicated to public service, along with financial assistance for graduates entering public interest roles. Participants must complete at least 15 credits from approved public service courses and log 175 hours of legal work with public interest groups, government entities, or judicial systems. Financial support options include the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), covering law school and other educational debts, and the Income-Based Repayment (IBR) initiative.
Public Interest students gain hands-on experience through various clinics and organizations. Popular choices include the Immigration Law Clinic, Civil Rights Clinic, Family Protection Clinic, as well as participation in groups like HALO (Humanitarian Aid Legal Organization) and the King Hall ACLU chapter.
Two-Year LL.M. pathway available.
