This advanced degree program delivers rigorous training in both political science theory and research methods while fostering close faculty-student mentorship. The curriculum offers five specialization areas: American government, cross-national political systems, global affairs, political philosophy, and quantitative methods. Participants can alternatively design a customized concentration incorporating courses from related disciplines. With intentionally small cohort sizes, the selective Ph.D. program emphasizes collaborative faculty-student partnerships in both scholarly investigation and instructional activities, preparing graduates for academic positions across political science and related fields. Alumni have achieved successful placements at prestigious research institutions, undergraduate-focused colleges, as well as governmental and policy analysis roles. The program actively supports student research initiatives through dedicated funding and multiple avenues for independent or team-based scholarly projects.
