The M.A. program in Comparative Literature with a thesis option equips students for advanced academic pursuits or professional careers. Our graduate cohort benefits from extensive faculty support across Comparative Literature and related disciplines. Faculty members hold joint appointments with departments including East Asian Languages and Cultures, English, French and Italian, German and Russian, Middle East/South Asian Languages, and Religious Studies. We encourage applications from humanities-oriented students seeking to deepen their comparative literary and critical analysis skills. The curriculum blends foundational courses in comparative methodologies with specialized study in various languages and literary traditions. Candidates will develop a Master's thesis with guidance from a dedicated committee and participate in a thesis-writing workshop.
The Feminist Theory and Research Designated Emphasis enables doctoral candidates in participating programs to complement their Ph.D. studies with focused training in feminist scholarship. Qualified graduate students may enroll in the Designated Emphasis coursework. Upon fulfilling all requirements, participants will receive formal recognition on their academic records, with their doctoral diplomas specifying this specialization in Feminist Theory and Research.
