The Neuroscience Graduate Group stands among the top training programs in the U.S., providing an extensive curriculum and exceptional research opportunities for both M.S. and Ph.D. candidates, while also collaborating with Physician and Veterinary Scientist Training Programs. With over 80 faculty members from 20 diverse departments—spanning the School of Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Biological Sciences, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and College of Letters and Sciences—this campus-wide initiative fosters remarkable interdisciplinary diversity. Students can explore a wide range of specializations, such as molecular, cellular, developmental, systems, behavioral, computational, cognitive, and neurological neuroscience. Focus areas include cellular/molecular, developmental, systems, cognitive, behavioral, and computational neuroscience.
The Biotechnology emphasis offers a robust multidisciplinary concentration, covering bioethics, business, and legal aspects of biotechnology, along with a 3-6 month internship at a biotech company or external research lab. Dr. Kjelstrom, the Program Coordinator, supports students in securing internships, crafting compelling cover letters and CVs, and honing professional skills for the business world.
