German serves as the tongue of renowned figures like Goethe, Kafka, Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven, standing as Europe's most commonly spoken native language. Mastering German opens doors to cultural enrichment while boosting career prospects. As the EU's strongest economy and the world's fourth-largest, Germany hosts global industry leaders including Siemens, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, Adidas, and Lufthansa. The German major offers three specialized paths: literature and language, regional studies, or cultural-business studies. The literature track focuses on analyzing authors, literary movements, and thematic elements. For those drawn to Germanic history and society, the regional studies option provides interdisciplinary courses across departments like history, philosophy, and economics. The cultural-business pathway develops practical language skills for professional environments in German-speaking regions, highlighted by mandatory international work-study programs.
