Economists examine how individuals allocate scarce resources to fulfill their endless needs and desires. They develop theoretical frameworks to understand human behavior, combining these models with real-world observations to interpret events and trends. Drawing on these insights, they devise innovative solutions to complex issues—approaches that may appear counterintuitive initially but demonstrate effectiveness in application. Economists operate across government and private sectors, holding diverse roles from financial market evaluation to sports branding and financial oversight. The curriculum begins with core classes in microeconomics, macroeconomics, statistical methods, and quantitative analysis. Advanced coursework includes two economic theory classes, a choice between American or European economic history, and data interpretation. Students then specialize through electives spanning strategic decision-making models to global financial systems and worldwide economic growth. To enhance their economics education, learners can pursue credit-bearing internships, participate in international exchange programs, or undertake rigorous research projects via honors tracks.

Students majoring in economics first complete foundational economics coursework alongside quantitative methodology classes. Upper-level studies involve intermediate theory and historical economic perspectives, after which scholars focus their remaining credits on specialized domains. These concentration areas may include advanced economic theory, historical analysis, global trade dynamics, workforce economics, industrial organization, comparative economic structures, growth strategies, governmental budgeting, statistical economics, or analytical economic modeling.
