The Cinema and Digital Media program is an interdisciplinary field blending media theory, history, and practical creation, equipping students with comprehensive knowledge of creative and computational media tools. Learners are inspired to critically examine media's role in advancing social equity, representation, and accessibility. Through this program, students gain practical experience with collaborative research methods and innovative techniques for digital filmmaking, screen-based projects, audio production, web design, interactive installations, and community-focused media. The curriculum begins with foundational courses before allowing students to specialize in either creative production or critical studies during upper-division coursework. These focus areas maintain significant overlap, enabling students to craft personalized academic paths culminating in a capstone project.
This program cultivates graduates who become versatile critical thinkers, adept collaborators, and technologically proficient professionals attuned to evolving media landscapes. Personal initiative proves crucial—students thrive when pursuing their unique interests while meeting rigorous academic expectations. We believe this approach provides optimal preparation for navigating our dynamic global environment.
