Berkeley Social Welfare prepares students to become leaders in social welfare and social work. For nearly 80 years since 1944, we've educated more than 11,000 social work professionals and scholars for leadership positions in research, teaching, advanced practice, and management. Our graduate programs include the professional Master of Social Welfare (MSW) and the academic Doctor of Philosophy in Social Welfare (PhD).
The Berkeley Social Welfare MSW program, accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), equips students with specialized intervention skills while providing comprehensive grounding in social science, welfare policies, and service organizations.
