The EECS Human-Computer Interaction Group explores how people interact with technology across diverse settings, from professional environments to domestic spaces and public areas. Our interdisciplinary team partners with researchers and designers university-wide, producing work showcased at leading conferences like CHI, UIST, DIS, VIS, and CSCW while developing practical innovations with tangible benefits for society. We conduct our investigations across multiple campus locations, including dedicated EECS facilities and the 4,000-square-foot Berkeley Institute of Design (BID), specifically designed to encourage cross-disciplinary teamwork. The Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation supplements our capabilities with comprehensive prototyping tools, while strong connections with the School of Information's HCI-focused graduate programs further enrich our research ecosystem.
