The Department of Linguistics adopts a comprehensive perspective on language studies. Our program encompasses fundamental areas like phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics, while also extending to specialized fields including historical linguistics, field research and documentation, cognitive linguistics, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. Our Graduate Program equips students with research skills to investigate and explain universal characteristics of linguistic structure, meaning, and application. We emphasize both language preservation efforts and advanced theoretical education. Linguistics represents a scientific discipline focused on understanding language systems, examining three primary dimensions: linguistic structure, semantic interpretation, and contextual usage.
