The Graduate Group in Infectious Diseases and Immunity offers comprehensive training in studying disease-causing microorganisms, their interactions with human and animal hosts, and environmental influences. This distinctive PhD program focuses on interdisciplinary education exploring the complex relationships between pathogens, hosts, and ecosystems. Key research areas encompass host-pathogen biology, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary ecology of pathogens, environmental transmission factors, vector biology, epidemiological surveillance methods, therapeutic and vaccine development, and public health strategies for disease management.
This program aims to equip students with advanced research skills for conducting autonomous scientific inquiries. Its mission is to advance public health by bridging foundational research with practical applications to improve diagnostic methods, treatments, preventive measures, and disease containment strategies.
Participants in this program will develop specialized knowledge in infectious disease research, preparing them for professional opportunities in academic institutions, government organizations, and the biotech industry.
The minimum graduate admission requirements are:
a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution;
a satisfactory scholastic average, usually a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) on a 4.0 scale; and
enough undergraduate training to do graduate work in your chosen field.
TOEFL at least 90 for the Internet-based test (IBT), and 570 for the paper-based format (PBT).
overall Band score must be at least 7 on a 9-point scale for IELTS
