The Chemistry PhD program focuses on cultivating skills for innovative scientific research. As such, each student's primary academic focus becomes their individual research project. To encourage independent scholarly exploration, formal course requirements are intentionally limited and tailored to different specialties. Faculty advisors customize coursework to optimally prepare students for their specific research areas.

The doctorate program offers these specialized tracks, each with distinct degree requirements:

Physical Chemistry: Typically, this concentration explores experimental physical, analytical, nuclear, biophysical, and theoretical chemistry.
Synthetic Chemistry: This track emphasizes creating organic or inorganic compounds, developing synthesis techniques, and analyzing their properties and applications.
Chemical Biology: This program bridges chemistry and biology, spanning from producing bioactive substances to studying biological systems.
