The five-year dual Bachelor of Science and Master of Science program enhances the standard four-year undergraduate curriculum by adding a fifth year of advanced study focused on professional development. This prepares graduates for engineering or engineering management roles across business, government, and industrial fields. Participants first complete their bachelor's degree, then pursue a non-thesis Master of Science (Plan II) as approved by the Academic Senate. This accelerated program fosters interdisciplinary learning through specialized coursework and an independent research project. Admission is restricted to undergraduate materials science and engineering students (including joint majors).
