Ecosystem Management and Forestry (EMF) centers on preserving and renewing our planet's natural resources by engaging in practical studies of forest, woodland, and grassland ecology, stewardship, and management.
Students can select between two specialized tracks. Those who opt for the Forestry specialization become eligible to sit for California's Registered Professional Forester licensing examination.
The Forestry track equips students with ecological, quantitative, and social knowledge to become future leaders in forest resource management. Accredited by the Society of American Foresters, this specialization fulfills California's four-year educational or professional experience requirement for professional forester licensure. The Forestry program's objectives align directly with the forestry profession's educational standards, preparing graduates for diverse careers in forestry and related natural resource sectors.
The Natural Resource Management specialization offers students more flexibility to study ecology, environmental systems, monitoring techniques, and policy management. Participants may focus on water management, ecological studies, climate change, or create a customized concentration based on their interests.
