The Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies program at UC Berkeley offers an interdisciplinary approach to examining the past and present realities of Asian-origin populations across local, national, and worldwide settings. While primarily concentrating on U.S.-based Asian communities, the curriculum places Asian American experiences, achievements, challenges, and interests within broader transnational and diasporic frameworks.
The program investigates linkages between Asian populations in America and globally, analyzing intertwined historical narratives, migration patterns, and the interconnected networks facilitating the movement of people, resources, ideas, cultural impacts, and social movements across Asia, the United States, and dispersed Asian communities worldwide.
