For those with extensive experience in music content who aspire to lead in music education, teach on a national or global scale, and don't require New York State teaching certification, our music education program equips you with essential skills to reach your career objectives. Alumni of our program effectively incorporate digital tools to improve music instruction and prioritize music as a fundamental element of every student's learning experience.
Prerequisite
To be eligible for this program, you must have majored in or completed 30 credit hours in MUSIC.
In addition, the following music distribution must be met:
› Academics/Performance: 4 courses in music theory, 2 courses in music history, 2 courses in conducting, 4 courses in a primary instrument (including voice)
› Public Recital
› Keyboard Proficiency Exam
› Secondary Instrument Proficiency: woodwinds, brasses, percussion, strings
 
You must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
