Early childhood and childhood education programs focus on teaching children from preschool through middle school. These programs may include bilingual extension or specialization options. The introductory professional program in early childhood education caters to graduate students without prior education degrees who want to teach young children. This pathway allows individuals with backgrounds in approved humanities, social sciences, or sciences to earn a master's degree while meeting certification requirements for teaching children from birth to sixth grade.
Prerequisite
To be eligible for this program, you must have majored in or completed 30 credit hours in one of the following areas: 
›  Arts: Art History, Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Arts
›  English
›  Languages other than English (e.g., French, Spanish)
›  Mathematics
›  Natural Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics
›  Social Sciences: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Political Science
›  Social Sciences Interdisciplinary (Health & Human Services: Early Childhood Concentration only)
