Those pursuing historical musicology studies will find an extensive selection of courses taught by a vibrant, diverse faculty. Expertise spans key eras of Western musical tradition, from medieval and Renaissance compositions to 18th, 19th, and 20th-century works. Research domains additionally include: cinematic scores, Russian and Soviet compositions, the Second Viennese movement, critical analysis, philosophical perspectives, artistic theories, and investigations into popular music. A standout feature is UB's music library, ideally situated within the music department building.
UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS-
Upload unofficial academic transcripts for all post-secondary schoolwork directly to your application. If you are accepted into the program, you will be asked to submit original transcripts with proper signatures, seals or stamps. Academic documents that are not in English must be accompanied by an exact, certified translation. 
THREE (3) LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION-
You must submit three (3) letters of recommendation to support your admission. These letters should be from current or former professors, instructors or employers. 
PERSONAL STATEMENT -
The personal statement is your opportunity to tell the graduate admissions committee about yourself and your history. This statement should describe your educational goals, professional interests and how the University at Buffalo Music program you are applying to fits in.
