The Urban and Regional Planning PhD program cultivates exceptional scholars and researchers by providing comprehensive study and investigation opportunities across urban and regional planning disciplines. Key research specialties where the program demonstrates particular expertise, global recognition, and focus include: struggling cities and underprivileged urban areas; health systems, food security, human potential and surroundings; constructed spaces and ecological shifts; catastrophic occurrences and emergencies; plus cutting-edge technology, data systems and analytical approaches in planning.
We invite applications from highly qualified and motivated candidates interested in pursuing a career in research and teaching. Candidates should ideally hold a master’s degree in planning or a related field, and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in graduate coursework. International candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English as per standards set by the University at Buffalo.
