Geographic Information Systems equip students with skills to handle, gather, and organize geospatial data; assess and measure spatial connections; and create, design, and generate maps.
Pursuing a geographic information science (GIS) degree, you'll master map creation and analysis techniques while learning to gather, process, and understand location-based data. The curriculum typically begins with core courses in cartography and geography (incorporating mathematics and computing), followed by specialized electives tailored to your focus areas. You'll gain practical experience with industry-standard software and tools while examining real-world challenges in environmental, urban, public health, and other relevant fields.
Have earned the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma.  If you have already completed secondary school, you need to submit both academic transcripts and proof of graduation with your application documents. 
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000, both overall and at the University at Buffalo
