Rehabilitation counseling is a dynamic and expanding field, with UB's program ranking among the nation's most established and prestigious. Our approach is practical—students apply and refine counseling methods and rehabilitation strategies learned in class through real-world experience at partner agencies. Alumni of our program occupy prominent roles nationwide, assisting individuals with disabilities by addressing psychological, social, vocational, and educational challenges stemming from physical, mental, emotional, or social impairments. The program is also available online for students residing beyond the Buffalo, New York region.

Qualification Requirements
Our program is open to anyone holding a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or a related field of study.
Academic transcripts: Upload scanned copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts, including the English translation, if applicable. (A minimum of a master’s degree in a CRCC-approved related field is required.)
- Contact information for at least three individuals who will each be asked to provide an electronic recommendation letter. Academic or professional references are required.
- CRCC Category 3 eligibility: If you are seeking CRC Category 3 eligibility, include evidence of earning an advanced degree in a related field of study (such as, but not limited to: Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Psychometrics, Rehabilitation, Social Work, Special Education and Vocational Assessment/Evaluation). Additionally, applicants should go through the new CRCC Category 3 "Pre-Review" process prior to application to the Advanced Certificate Program to ensure eligibility and to clarify coursework needs.
