The Professional M.A. in Russian program consists of at least 33 credit units. Independent Study (RSSS 599) credits are rarely permitted (maximum 3 units) and only when course options don't cover a student's specialized interest, subject to faculty availability and DGS approval. Typically completed in four semesters, Journalism Emphasis students usually follow the recommended curriculum, though alternative courses may be approved if they better align with academic or career goals. Always verify course selections with both your Faculty Mentor and the DGS to maintain steady degree progress. Russian language coursework requires students to complete readings and assignments in Russian whenever feasible.
