The Master's program in Mild to Moderate Disabilities is approved by the Arizona Department of Education and equips educators to work with students who have mild-to-moderate learning challenges. Graduates who fulfill all program requirements, including student teaching, can pursue Arizona's Provisional Mild to Moderate (K-12) Special Education Teaching Certification.
Educators specializing in mild to moderate disabilities perform diverse duties to support their students' learning needs. In this role, you will:

Qualification Requirements

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Unofficial transcripts showing a grade point average of B or better (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Unoffical transcripts of all previous college work from each college or university previously attended must be uploaded with your application. Applicants recommended for admission will be required to submit final official transcripts to the Graduate College admissions office.
A two-page personal statement describing your experience working with children or youth who have disabilities and how you expect the Mild-Moderate MA program to improve your impact with children or youth with disabilities.
Evidence of previous teaching experience. If you do not hold a teaching certificate, we require evidence of experience working with children or youth with disabilities.
Three professional letters of recommendation. We prefer letters from persons who can attest to your ability to do graduate level work and interact effectively with children and youth.
An interview with a faculty member. Your interview will provide you with valuable information about the program and give you an opportunity to ask questions about the program. Your interview may be conducted in person, by phone, or via teleconferencing.

GRE scores not required.

Minimum TOEFL: 79 (IBT) 550 (PB) or
Minimum IELTS: Composite score of 7 (no subject area below a 6)
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of 79 iBT (or 60 on the revised PBT with no section score lower than 15). Individual MyBest scores must also be dated within 2 years of the enrollment term to be considered valid.
