The M.A. (LRC) program emphasizes theoretical foundations, investigative approaches, and practical applications in language studies, literacy development, bilingual education, youth literature, and cultural contexts, fostering scholarly exploration of pivotal challenges in education. Our program brings together a multicultural team of globally renowned educators dedicated to promoting fairness, inclusivity, and societal equity. Study areas encompass foundational literacy skills, sociocultural perspectives, Indigenous pedagogical approaches, heritage language preservation, community and family learning environments, literature for young readers, STEM education, ecological awareness, curriculum design, classroom dynamics, and professional educator growth.
The Language, Reading & Culture graduate program centers on theoretical frameworks, empirical research, and educational practices related to linguistic development, reading proficiency, and cultural influences, promoting rigorous examination of social and cultural dimensions in education. Students can explore diverse specialization pathways such as juvenile literature studies, multilingual instruction, equity-focused pedagogy, early learning approaches, digital and intercultural literacies, and Indigenous educational practices. Classes are primarily conducted on campus during evening hours, with select blended and fully online course alternatives available. Participants may customize their academic trajectory to match their professional aspirations and research interests.
Students must have completed a four year bachelor from Regionally accredited institution.
