The Bilingual Journalism master's program provides innovative professional and academic preparation for aspiring journalists focused on covering Latinx communities in the U.S. and internationally. As one of the nation's few completely bilingual programs, it equips graduates with dual-language proficiency in Spanish/English or Portuguese/English, creating a distinct professional advantage. The curriculum emphasizes digital-era storytelling innovations, including entrepreneurial journalism approaches like crowdfunding and nonprofit hyperlocal initiatives. Participants will master contemporary reporting techniques for new media platforms, blending internet-influenced communication styles with social media strategies and audience analytics. This interdisciplinary program, jointly offered by the School of Journalism with Latin American Studies, Mexican American Studies, and Spanish & Portuguese departments, accommodates both journalism professionals and career-changers, with flexible options for part-time enrollment.
