The Graduate Certificate in Digital Curation equips students with foundational theories, conceptual models, and hands-on skills needed to build, preserve, and manage digital collections across libraries, archives, and records management settings.
Learning Objectives
By completing core courses and tailored electives that expand their expertise in digital information systems relevant to their professional goals, students will:
Grasp the fundamental principles governing the development, stewardship, and administration of digital repositories, archives, and records systems, including their similarities and distinctions,
Recognize key considerations when designing, structuring, maintaining access to, and conserving digital collections within their chosen specialization,
Comprehend the technical foundations supporting digital libraries, archives, and records management systems,
Gain hands-on experience in developing and maintaining digital collections.
Course assessments, demonstrated through grades, measure the attainment of these objectives. The culminating course features a digital poster synthesizing academic learning with internship experiences.
The School of Information applies the same minimum criteria as it does for the Master of Arts in Library and Information Science.
