The Global Change Ecology and Management specialization within the Natural Resources Bachelor of Science program examines how worldwide transformations impact ecosystems while equipping students with the knowledge and skills to navigate these shifts in the present and future. Participants develop a comprehensive foundation in biological and physical sciences while studying conservation policies, socioeconomic factors, and cutting-edge geospatial technologies. The curriculum fosters leadership abilities, collaborative problem-solving, strategic management, and analytical reasoning. Alumni emerge as qualified natural resource professionals, equipped to tackle emerging environmental challenges and pursue advanced studies in ecology, biology, legal fields, and related disciplines.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Understand fundamental ecological concepts, Grasp core ecological theories (including energy transfer, nutrient cycles, species interactions), recognize contemporary environmental challenges confronting resource professionals, and apply ecological knowledge to devise comprehensive management solutions. Natural resource governance, Analyze how societal, political, and economic factors influence conservation decisions, and understand the inherent compromises required in resource management.
Government conservation roles, Recognize principal federal agencies overseeing natural resources, their historical origins, and their core legislative responsibilities.
Develop statistical proficiency, Perform, evaluate, and communicate statistical assessments of environmental data, create scientific sampling frameworks, and demonstrate competence in designing and executing field research projects.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA and entry requirements vary from country to country. International applicants whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English speaking country, regardless of citizenship, must prove English proficiency. English proficiency may be proven by one or more of the following:
