Collaborate with distinguished Latin American scholars to explore pressing challenges affecting these regions, including gender equality, border health, and environmental sustainability. This program offers an in-depth examination of Latin America's languages, cultures, historical developments, and political landscapes. The Bachelor of Arts program prioritizes community involvement, foreign language proficiency, and global affairs. It serves as an excellent complementary major to nearly any other degree at the University of Arizona, spanning fields from business and public health to media studies and culinary arts. Students have opportunities to study in Mexico, Central America, South America, or the Hispanic Caribbean, and can engage in internships with organizations such as the Coalition for Human Rights, Barrio Stories, and the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Historical, Geographical, and Developmental Knowledge of Latin America
Students will acquire comprehensive knowledge of Latin America's history, geography, and development, both regionally and within specific countries.
Analytical and Innovative Approaches to Latin American Challenges
Students will develop interdisciplinary analytical skills to address significant issues affecting Latin American nations.
Interpretation of Latin American Literary Works
Students will gain proficiency in analyzing and interpreting relevant primary and secondary literature.
Contemporary Latin American Affairs
Students will demonstrate comprehension of current critical issues impacting Latin America.
Students must have high school equivalent to USA and entry requirements vary from country to country. International applicants whose primary language is not English, or who attended school in a non-English speaking country, regardless of citizenship, must prove English proficiency. English proficiency may be proven by one or more of the following:
