Enrolled in the Master of Science in Mathematics program, students pursue coursework with either a theoretical or practical mathematical focus. Alongside advanced mathematics classes, participants must pass a comprehensive exam and undertake a project or thesis, guided by their graduate advisor and advisory committee. Past projects and theses have covered diverse subjects including graph theory, algebra, biomathematics, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, dynamical systems, and Lie groups, with many resulting in publications in both theoretical and applied mathematics journals.
Typically, students finish the program within two academic years plus summer sessions. Alumni have progressed to doctoral programs in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and related disciplines, as well as secured teaching roles at community colleges.
