The sculpture program provides both undergraduate and graduate degrees, focusing on sculptural practices that maintain an equilibrium between conceptual development, contextual understanding, and technical process. The production facilities feature ceramic tools, mold-making equipment, a fully equipped metal fabrication workshop with welding and plasma cutting capabilities, glass casting resources, woodworking tools, and a foundry for casting aluminum, bronze, and iron—along with opportunities to explore unconventional materials and methods. Advanced technical resources include a CNC plasma cutter, glass slumping equipment, and 3D digital modeling software, supported through collaboration with the University of Alaska Fairbanks Community and Technical College. The BFA and MFA sculpture programs admit a curated cohort of students who are challenged to create technically refined and conceptually rigorous work grounded in historical and contemporary sculptural discourse. Through a structured studio curriculum, students gain expertise in diverse three-dimensional media and techniques, equipping them for careers as professional artists or in various fields that value multidimensional creative skills.
