The Native Art Program provides both bachelor's and master's level degrees focused on Indigenous art studio work. UAF stands alone in Alaska as the sole institution granting a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Native Art, and ranks among just a handful nationwide offering a Master of Fine Arts in this discipline. The studio space features traditional and modern carving equipment. Students can specialize in various mediums including wood, ivory, stone and bone carving, along with woodblock printing, skin sewing, beadwork, basketry, and mixed media. Each semester, introductory through advanced Native Art Studio courses serve about sixty students, with a significant portion being Alaska Native individuals.

Qualification Requirements

Have a high school diploma, and, Pass the 16-credit high school core curriculum with at least a 2.5, and ,Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5. Submit certified official secondary school and/or university transcripts and English translations. It is required that official transcripts of all high school and/or college-level coursework be signed and sealed by a registration official of the institution(s) attended. IELTS score of 6.5, TOEFL IBT score of 79.
