The Master's in Software Engineering (MSSE) - Computer Engineering specialization provides students with cutting-edge expertise in software creation. This program emphasizes sophisticated principles, development approaches, and technologies while exploring in-depth subjects such as software architecture, engineering workflows, quality assurance, and team leadership.

The ECE Department's MSSE curriculum serves three primary student demographics:

Technically-focused professionals seeking to strengthen fundamental abilities and concentrate on specialized fields including concurrent computing, integrated systems, information security, or business intelligence.
Aspiring software project leaders who gain practical exposure to better comprehend programmer requirements and efficiently solve development obstacles.
Practicing engineers with minimal coding background, who complete preparatory classes alongside core MSSE coursework for an accelerated immersion in software engineering principles. This track has grown particularly attractive to mechanical and aeronautical engineers assuming software-related responsibilities in their professional environments.

Qualification Requirements

Requirements for admission to the computer science graduate degree program are in addition to those of the School of Graduate Studies. Scores from the GRE basic test are required for admission to the program. Transcripts will be reviewed and deficiencies in computer science background may result in the need to take one or more broadening courses. The MAT or GMAT is not an acceptable substitute for the GRE.

Requirements for admission to a graduate certificate program are the same as requirements for admission to the Computer Science M.S. program. Students must also satisfy the breadth requirements described below. Students in a certificate program are required to maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Students applying for the master's program are expected to have an undergraduate background in Computer Science. Those students who do not have such a background must satisfy the breadth requirements described below. In particular, students in the MS in Computer Science program who have not had an undergraduate course in programming languages must take CS 424 or CS 524.
A bachelor's degree, or equivalent, from an approved institution. A minimum grade point average of a 3.0 on the undergraduate record.

TOEFL iBT - All sub-scores must be greater or equal 18. TOEFL Essentials - All subscores must be greater or equal to 8. IELTS - All sub-scores must be greater or equal to 6.0.
