The FLIT program is an interdisciplinary initiative that integrates German, Russian, or Spanish language studies with international trade coursework. This 66-credit-hour curriculum encompasses not only language training but also subjects like macroeconomics, accounting, statistics, finance, marketing, management, and international relations.
This program equips graduates for diverse professional opportunities in both government and corporate sectors. FLIT participants are strongly advised to pursue study abroad or international internships, mirroring standard language majors who must complete an internship in their target language, whether locally or overseas. While no minor is mandatory, many students opt to supplement their studies with either global studies or international business minors.
Students entering FLIT with existing proficiency in their chosen language may bypass introductory courses through placement tests. Successful candidates can earn up to 6 credit hours (without letter grades or quality points) for waived courses, counting toward their major requirements.
